I Don’t Want to See an End to Global Slavery

I want to see an end to Christian apathy.

I don’t want to see an end to poverty.

I want to see Christians stand up and give a damn.

I don’t want to see the hungry fed.

I want to see Christians arise from their slumber.

Jesus tells a story: A man was traveling down a long road.  While he was journeying, thieves beat him, robbed him and left him for dead.  A deeply religious person was also going down the road, but when he came across the man – afraid of confusing faith and politics – he passed by on the other side of the road.  A social activist was going down the same road too, he also passed by on the other side – getting involved could mean being uncomfortable.  A Samaritan man (in its context think: ‘Al-Qaeda pedophile’) came down this road as well.  When he sees the man, he has compassion for him.  He gets off his donkey, performs first aid, puts the man on his donkey and takes him to a hospital – where he pays the man’s bill in advance.

The turning point in the story of the Good Samaritan was when the man got off his ass.
