So, it comes to this

I’m going to do it. I’m going to join the ranks of the countless “life commentators” and commentate on my own.

If I’m going to do this correctly, I must first tell you about myself. I’m a 26 year old Worship Pastor at a church in Saint Simons Island, Georgia. I enjoy what I do – it’s not everybody who gets to be the “chief musician” in the temple courts.

I love most things theological and all things narrative. I find it incredibly encouraging that the people of God are finally begging to put flesh and blood on the person of Jesus and the historical situations of the Bible.

I’m reading N.T. Wright, A.W. Tozer, Matthew and Kurt Vonnegut. I’m listening to Remedy, Drastic Fantastic, Shepherd’s Dog and The Christmas Oratorio. I do not think that Jesus has to be cool to be relevant or relatable. I do not think the church has to become more modern to reach more people. I’m offended that the Daily Show highlights more issues of social justice in a week – feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, freeing the captive and the oppressed – than most pulpits mention in a year. But we can save some of this for another post.

I’ve got a website: www.sholander.com. Check it out if you like. I enjoy what little bit of web design I’ve done so far.

Stick around; this might be good or this might suck – either way, it’ll be fun to watch.
